Host family & Au pair updates for the Week of January 27th
No Comment |Posted by: lrappaport on January 28, 2008

Here the latest from your LCC. Please click on more.
Update information for the week of January 27th
Au pairs:
- New Rosters will be sent to you via email on Friday, February 1st. Please check the last list that was sent in January. If you’ve added a cell phone number or there are mistakes, please let me know by Thursday, so that I can update my roster.
- Start planning your carpools to the February 10th meeting!! I will not be making your arrangements. There will be around 100 au pairs at our Country Line Dancing meeting… the Thousand Oaks, Santa Clarita & Ventura group!! This promises to be a really fun evening. I will have a sign up sheet for personal conferences that evening. They will be in 10 minutes segments from 6:45-7:15 pm and from 7:45-8:30 p.m. See the January/February au pair meeting segment of this blog for all the details.
- Is anyone entering the Au Pair story contest? You have 5 more days! Great prizes for the winners.
- Have you voted yet for the April meeting event? You still have time to cast your vote.
Host families and au pairs:
- We have open enrollment until the end of the month. The application fee of $350 will be waivered. If anyone knows a family that might like to host an au pair, please email or call me. Better yet, have that family contact me. Remember, au pairs & host families benefit with $$ credits once an au pair has arrived in that families home. Offer good until 11:59p.m., Thursday January 31st.
- Super host dad, David Kessler of Studio City, made it possible for me to met Jo, of Super Nanny fame. The production company was filming across the street from his home last week. Check out the photos of her special taxi, driver & “Super Nanny meets Awesome Au Pair LCC”.
- Remember, this is an interactive website. If you have any comments, questions or ideas, they can be posted on this blog. Let’s share our ideas & information. Perhaps other host families or au pairs would benefit from this.
- The 4th picture below are members of the Golden Heart League…a group of 19 LCC’s in the Cultural Care Au Pair organization. Yours truly is honored to be a part of this special group. The photo was taken in Cambridge, MA on the campus of Harvard University.
Tell a Friend about HOSTING AN AU PAIR! CONTACT LEE

A great way to refer a friend to Cultural Care is to email or call LEE (LeeCCAuPair@aol.com) Currently there is a $250 referral fee for host families. Recommend your friends, family members or work colleagues. Once an au pair arrives in their home, you will be credited the $250. It’s that simple!<object id=”flashapp_206597164″ type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” height=”226″ width=”300″ data=”http://program.flektor.com/program/fplayer.swf” name=”\”"+name+”\”" returntype=”\”javascript\”" shutdown=”function () {
return eval(instance.CallFunction(”" + __flash__argumentsToXML(arguments,0) + “”));
}” allowfullscreen=”true” allownetworking=”all” allowscriptaccess=”always” share=”function () {
return eval(instance.CallFunction(”" + __flash__argumentsToXML(arguments,0) + “”));
}”>
REFER A FRIEND. Receive $250 when that families’ au pair arrives in their home. <object id=”flashapp_206597164″ type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” height=”226″ width=”300″ data=”http://program.flektor.com/program/fplayer.swf” name=”\”"+name+”\”" returntype=”\”javascript\”" shutdown=”function () {

NEWS FOR WEEK OF JANUARY 21st
No Comment |Posted by: lrappaport on January 23, 2008
Please read these important updates that concern EDUCATION & HOLIDAYS.
- Here is a link for Santa Monica College’s Continuing Education Program. Once at the site, click on COURSES. http://commed.smc.edu/ These classes count for HOURS not credit but are less expensive!
- Holidays have been a confusing subject for host families & au pairs. I have had 3 different Program Directors with 3 different takes on this matter. Here is what I was told last week when I was in our Boston office: The host family & au pairs should talk about an upcoming MAJOR holiday beforehand. If the family needs the au pair to work that day then you will be working on a US holiday. Please do not compare yourself to another au pair who might get that day off. Perhaps they will be working on a holiday that you will get the time off.
Host Family & Au Pair Information for Week of JANUARY 13th

Please check this on a weekly basis for up-to-date information regarding host families and/or au pairs.
<object id=”flashapp_802445389″ type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” height=”226″ width=”300″ data=”http://program.flektor.com/program/fplayer.swf” name=”\” returntype=”\” shutdown=”function () {

}”>
I think the cut off point to still wish everyone a Happy New Year is January 15th, so I’ve gotten in under the wire. Since my group has grown from 7 host families to currently 55, I am asking you to check this section of my website on a weekly basis. I will try to update information on Sunday evenings. Many of you received my email with the au pairs meeting schedule several months back. It is exceedingly difficult to keep track of new families receiving this information. Under au pair meetings, I currently have January & February listed together. Future Au Pair Meeting Information will be listed on the left hand side. The Spring Host family event is listed under that link.
Please note the following:
- My office hours are 9 am to 6 pm. MONDAY through FRIDAY! Appointments can be scheduled for the evenings & weekends.
- Call my home/office phone first, before calling the cellphone.
- I will try my best to return all calls within 24 hours.
- I will try to answer all emails within 48 hours.
- If I am traveling for business, I will leave a message on this site. Either another LCC will be covering for me or else I will ask you to contact me, on my cell phone if it is URGENT!! During these times, I will have limited access to a computer.
I WILL BE GOING TO BOSTON FROM Thursday, Jan. 17th through Sunday, Jan. 20th.
Contact LCC Tracy Johnson Cota at: southbayaupairs@yahoo.com if there is a very important matter that cannot wait until Monday, Jan. 21st. Otherwise, you can phone our Boston office at 1-800-333-6056. Thank you.
